A wire-to-wire triumph by pacers Rocknrolls Shadow in Race 2 at Flamboro Downs will hold a special spot in the heart of Jake Roberts because it represented his first ever training victory.
Roberts watched Brett MacDonald hustle the even-money favourite to the lead from Post 3 and from that point on the pacer never looked back. He sailed through fractions of :30, :59.4 and 1:29.2 before stepping home in :29.4 to win comfortably in 1:59.1.
Steve Adams of Toronto, ON owns the five-year-old son of Shadow Play-Thebestofrocknroll.
As for Roberts, after going winless in 13 starts during last year’s rookie season he potted the maiden-breaker in his first start of the 2022 campaign.
