Jack Vernon Victorious At Dover

Jack Vernon won the Open Trot at Dover Downs on Tuesday (Jan. 14).

Trainer Dylan Davis called upon the services of Tim Tetrick, who sent the trotting gelding to the front before yielding the lead to Home N Dry. Tetrick soon angled Jack Vernon back outside to retake the lead at the quarter pole. He posted splits of :27.4, :57.2 and 1:25.2 in progress to a 1:53.2 win. In Secret pulled first up before the half and challenged Jack Vernon through a :28 third quarter, but failed to menace. Jack Vernon, the 1-2 favourite, won by three quarters of a length in hand.

Jack Vernon is owned by Lazzaro and Casalino Jr. Dylan Davis is his trainer.

Home N Dry stayed on the pylons to finish second and Majestic Marvel finished third.

Wiggle It Jiggleit and Slick Tony will square off in the Preferred Handicap on Thursday. The clash has been carded as Race 12 on the program.

Post Time Thursday (Jan. 16) will be at 4:30 p.m.
