The 2011 Nadia Lobell for three-year-old filly pacers and the Moni Maker for three-year-old filly trotters, which have been contested at The Red Mile since 2003 and 2005, respectively, will be held at The Meadows.

The Red Mile’s Grand Circuit race secretary, Connie Hochstetler, stressed that although the races have been moved this year, the upcoming $500 nominating payment due for both events on Feb. 15 should be sent to The Red Mile, 1200 Red Mile Road, P.O. Box 420, Lexington, Ky. 40588.

The Nadia Lobell will be raced on Monday, August 29, and the Moni Maker will be contested on Friday, September 16, with both expected to have a purse of $200,000 (est.). There will be no eliminations, with the races limited to the nine richest entries in 2011 at time of entry. Any horses entered who do not draw into the races will have their fees refunded as no consolation races will be contested.

The Nadia Lobell was first raced at Garden State Park in 1990 before moving to the Meadowlands in 2001. After a one-year absence, the race was moved to The Red Mile. The Kentucky track inaugurated the Moni Maker in 2005. Last year’s Nadia Lobell was won by the eventual Dan Patch Award winner Put On A Show, while the Moni Maker was won by Christiana Hanover.

Although The Red Mile is losing two sophomore events, it will pick up two legs of the Kindergarten Series for two-year-old filly trotters and two-year-old colt trotters. The Red Mile will host legs of both Kindergarten divisions on Sept. 9 and Sept. 22.
