Past presidents of the PEI Colt Stakes Association gathered at the Charlottetown Driving Park on Sunday, January 11 to look at possible locations for a permanent historical exhibit on the 75-year history of the association

.

In the photo above -- going from left to right -- are Allie Carr, Alan Smith, Blair Campbell, Ron McInnis, Wally Wood, Dr. Blair Kelly, Pat McHugh, president John Clarey. Missing: Ron MacArthur.

A history committee has been formed to document the past 75 years of operation of the PEI Colt Stakes Association and its predecessor the PEI Harness Racing Club. The committee would like to hear from anyone who has memorabilia on the people and horses that have been part of the oldest stakes program in Canada.

A list of individuals to be included in the book is shown below and the public is asked to help the committee with biographical information, photos, news clippings and artifacts that could be included in the book or be part of a permanent exhibit to be located at the Charlottetown Driving Park.

Jerry McCabe of Charlottetown will be the custodian of all contributions, which will be returned if requested. Contributors will be recognized in the book acknowledgements and may contact any of the history committee as follows:

Comments

Ed Haley and his daughter Clare MacDonald are from Antigonish not Tatamagouche;

Actually ken and Clare MacDonald are the owners of the West River Stock Farm which

was founded by the late Ed Haley.
