It was a standout night for Trevor Henry at Woodbine Mohawk Park on Monday, Jan. 13. He scored five victories, including wins in the $36,000 Preferred Trot and the $30,000 Pop-Up Series final.

In the Preferred Trot, New Rules and Henry sat at the back early as Quebec Hanover (Scott Young) set the pace, reaching the opening quarter in :28.1 and the half in :57.2. As the field approached the backstretch, Henry pulled New Rules, following the cover of 2-5 favourite Amigo Volo (Doug McNair). Once Amigo Volo cleared the lead at the three-quarter mark in 1:25.4, New Rules gained ground, wearing down the favourite. Turning for home, New Rules powered past and held off late challenges, crossing the wire in 1:54.2 and winning by 2-1/4 lengths. New Rules stepped up in class off a victory and is now a perfect two-for-two this year. Franks Angel (Tyler Borth) finished second, while Amigo Volo held on for third.

New Rules is a five-year-old by Lookslikeachpndale out of Mini Her. He is trained by David Menary for Pollack Racing. The gelding paid $5.50 to win.

In the $30,000 Pop Up Series final for non-winners of $30,000 (F&M $37,500) in 2024, 13-1 longshot Kenogami Coco was the winner. After swinging out second over entering the final turn, Henry and Kenogami Coco were in striking range in the stretch and surged past competitors to win in 1:58.4 by half a length. My Holy Moley (Tyler Borth) was second and Delcrest Brent (Steven Hudon) was third.

Kenogami Coco is an eight-year-old gelding by Wheeling N Dealin out of Profound Wisdom. The gelding is trained by Gerard Demers for owners Marie-Claude Reid and Mario Menard. He paid $28.80 to win.

Henry’s other victories included B Stoney ($3.30) in Race 4, Crystal Baller ($48.20) in Race 6 and Overthinking ($7) in Race 9.

With his five-win performance, Henry has now moved to second in the driver standings at Woodbine Mohawk Park with 10 wins, sitting behind James MacDonald, who has 16 wins. MacDonald is currently on vacation and is set to return on Jan. 27.
