Driver Brandon Campbell hogged the Fraser Downs winner's circle all night long on Friday (Jan. 10). He kicked things off by winning five consecutive races on the program, including the featured Mares Open Pace with his own trainee, Paperback Thriller.

Campbell's five-race win streak in the rain began with victories aboard Jennas Lass ($5.10) for trainer James Burke, Excessive ($3.60) for Jeff Waltenburgh and Tiempo Hanover ($16.10) for Jim Marino.

Paperback Thriller ($5.70) gave him the grand slam when she converted a pocket trip into a 1:54.2 victory in the $10,800 Open, defeating pacesetter Tahiti Seelster by 1-1/4 lengths over a sloppy track. Queen Of Thrones edged out Lady Elements champion Sell A Bit N in a photo for show.

Paperback Thriller, a five-year-old daughter of Mystery Chase who is coming off an eight-win 2019 campaign, surpassed the $100,000 mark in career earnings while notching her 14th lifetime victory. Campbell took over training the mare from his father Sanford when she arrived at Fraser Downs in December. Claimed for $18,750 last August at Century Downs, Paperback Thriller is owned by Raymond Henry of Calgary, Alta.

Campbell earned his fifth straight win on the Friday card in rein to Mc Twisted ($6.90) for trainer Rick White.

His winning ways continued later in the eighth and ninth races courtesy of the Margaret White-trained Fuzzywuzzywasabear ($10) and his own trainee Chase The Ace ($2.70).

The Calgary, Alberta horseman, who put up career-best numbers in 2019 of 177 driving wins and $1.37 million in purse earnings, now has 1,748 victories to his credit.

The only other driver to make an appearance in the winner's circle during the 10-race card was Kelly Hoerdt with three first-place finishes.
