Anders Bluestone made amends after breaking stride last week with a win the $24,000 Open Handicap Trot on a rainy Wednesday, January 11 over a ‘sloppy’ track at Dover Downs

Ross Wolfenden pulled the Eric Ell-conditioned Anders Bluestone out of fourth heading to the clubhouse turn and eventually went three-wide on the backstretch to take the lead. He then rang up a :28.4 final panel to notch a 1:55.3 verdict in the week’s top trot.
Anders Bluestone is owned by Ken Wood and Bill Dittmar, who claimed the now six-year-old son of Yankee Glide out of Annette Hanover at Harrah's Chester in late summer two seasons back. The former stakes regular when a juvenile, now sports a lifetime bankroll of $630,475.
Blueridge Tornado (Matt Kakaley), who saw a five-race win streak end, was a game second, edging gritty Lets Get Serious N (George Dennis).
One race later, Major Herbie, a former Ontario-based trotter, made his local debut a winning one as David Miller guided the Here Comes Herbie-Independence Dame four-year-old to a 1:57.1 victory in a $16,000 Winners Over Trot. Photo Maxx (Jon Roberts) closed in his typical fashion and finished second.
The win was the first for the Josh Green trainee's new U.S. connections from the David Rovine, Vip Internet, and Seafood Delight stables. He broke stride in his first start south of the border on Dec. 9 at Yonkers Raceway.
Corey Callahan won four races to extend his meet-leading total to 121 while Josh Green has haltered 52 winners thus far.
