"I believe that it's not going to be business as usual. I think that this is going to be a new era in harness racing. I believe that we will exceed pari-mutuel wagering handles that were established in the past."
On today's Trot Radio episode, New Jersey State Assemblyman Ronald Dancer - the son of harness racing legend Stanley Dancer - talks to Norm Borg about bills recently approved by the Assembly and Senate. The first bill allows the horse racing industry to receive up to $30 million to supplement racing purses over the next three years. In addition, a bill to approve Internet gambling was also passed. If signed by Gov. Chris Christie, New Jersey would be the first state to allow its residents to legally play poker and other wagering games online.
"I think that the Governor, the state of New Jersey and the state legislators all realize that we have two great industries in this state - the racing industry and the casino industry, and that the success of one does not have to be at the expense of the other."

If Mr.Dancer believes that
If Mr.Dancer believes that they are going to exceed the pari mutual handles of the past i am happy for him. I guess anything is possible all you have to do is believe. At one point in my life i also believed in santa claus and the easter bunny, imagine how devestated i felt last year when i found out they weren't real.
