'Leo' Headlines Palone's Six Pack

Windsong Leo endured a demanding :26.3 opening quarter in the slop and still had plenty in the tank to notch his third straight victory in Friday’s $20,000 Open Handicap Pace at The Meadows.

After Dave Palone gave Windsong Leo a :29.1 second-panel breather, the eight-year-old Jeremes Jet-Windsong Goldie gelding threw down a :27.3 third quarter that put the field away. He sprinted off late to score in 1:51, 1-1/2 lengths ahead of Bettor Than Spring, with Do Work Son third.

Ron Burke trains Windsong Leo, a 15-time winner in 2019 who now boasts a lifetime bankroll of $596,460, for Burke Racing Stable, Weaver Bruscemi LLC and Phillip Collura.

Dave Palone collected six wins, including three for Burke, on the 13-race card.

Live racing at The Meadows resumes Monday, first post 1:05 p.m.
