Mach It Big has been perfect since his return to racing this winter and on Saturday afternoon he extended his win streak off a pocket trip in the $2,200 Preferred Pace at Charlottetown Driving Park.
After working his way into the pocket spot from post six and tracking Forever Paradise through fractions of :28.1, :57.4 and 1:27.3, favourite Mach It Big ($2.90) overtook the pacesetter in the stretch and opened up three lengths before hitting the wire in 1:58 flat over the track listed as "good" with a two second allowance. Machinthesand came from last to show.
Mach It Big earned his third straight victory since returning from a layoff in late December and fifth in a row in the Maritimes going back to last May. Marc Campbell drove the seven-year-old son of Mach Three, who is now a 29-time winner, for owner Mikaela Lustic while Jonah Moase handles the training duties.
Campbell and Moase also teamed up for a four and a half length victory with the grey gelding Sterling Seelster and, separately, each brought their win totals to three for the day.
Kenny Arsenault had four training tallies during the afternoon's 15 races, including one aboard the front-stepping Frill Seeker ($3.80), a 2:02.1 winner in the $1,400 Open Handicap Trot. The Ebbsfleet Stables' seven-year-old Angus Hall gelding notched his third win in a row.
