Moments Of Joy won the $25,000 Mares Open at Dover Downs on Wednesday (Jan. 1).
Moments Of Joy left alertly from post 5 and parked favourite Reclamation to a :26.2 quarter. The fractions were 26.2 54.1 122.1 151 on a chilly night.
Reclamation and Tim Tetrick worked clear to cut the mile and was joined by Scuola Hanover, who raced first-up past a :54.1 half and pressured the leader to three-quarters in 1:22.1. Ultimately, Moments Of Joy and driver Victor Kirby maneuvered past Reclamation in deep stretch to win by a neck in a lifetime mark of 1:51. Delishka N was a ground-saving third.
Moments Of Joy is owned and trained by Bryan Truitt.
Tetrick rang in the new year in spectacular fashion, finishing the night with six wins and two second-place finishes out of 10 drives.
