While officials work on solutions, customers in Newfoundland and Labrador will start 2013 without the ability to place pari-mutuel wagers. Trot insider has learned that one of the major stumbling blocks preventing betting in the region is that no agreement is currently in place between the track and the local horseman's group.
The following statement is from St John's Racing and Entertainment Centre:
We are sorry to announce that due to circumstances beyond our control we will not be able to offer any pari-mutuel betting or wagering as of January 1, 2013 in Newfoundland and Labrador. We are still working on resolving the issues and will post updates when they become available. We are sorry for any inconvenience.
Thank you very much for all your patronage and support and all the best in the new year.
