Valagain In The Xtreme Marathon

August 9, 2008

Valagain and driver Michael Langdon were in no hurry to get the front until it counted, and when it did they hit the wire first in the mile-and-seven-eighths $25,000 Xtreme Marathon Pace on Saturday night as part of Xtreme Horsepower at Georgian Downs.

Royas Scooter (J.R. Plante) was out on top early and on top by a country mile for the first two laps, with Valagain sitting second in what announcer Larry Lederman sarcastically described as a "loose pocket."

With one lap to go, the leader started to come back to the field and that's when Valagain made his move to the front and didn't look back. Opening up daylight down the backstretch, Valagain hit the wire tons the best in 3:44.3 with Gyraider (Randy Fritz) claiming silver medal and the bronze going to Nocturnal (Gerry Belanger).

Michelle Bohrer trains Valagain (Dragon Again - Valinor) for Alan Fair and John Langdon of Ancaster, Ont.
