What do you think of the decision today by Ontario tracks to allow those trainers with positive tests for Aminorex to return to racing?
This is exactly what I feared would happen. It is also the worst thing that could happen. The regulators should have waited for a more thorough investigation, and the best information possible. Then, and only then, take the necessary action. This whole situation is frustrating for everyone. And it makes the whole industry - regulators and all stakeholders - look bad.

Finally cooler heads are starting to understand the mess this industry has got itself into - especially with the media and public. Owners should expect compensation for the cold and callous ejection of their animals from racetracks without any substantial merit.

After all the negative publicity, they have reversed their decision. Either these trainers were using Class 1 drugs or they weren't. What difference does it make where they got them - they used them.

I would like to thank the Commission and WEG for there new stance on this whole Aminorex issue. This alone will restore some of the integrity back to racing. Given the positives to date with this substance and the Commission not finding the source of it I expect to see more in the near future. If it can be proven that horses were given this unknowingly and they trace the source that is great. If, however, they find that these trainers have given the drug knowingly then they should be suspended for a minimum of five years.

I agree with the trainers being put in retention barn until further investigations are completed.

This is a good decision to allow all of these people to resume racing until the whole cloud is lifted or deemed absolute. Let's work like the outside world and presume innocence until further proven.
