Five Standardbred Breeders & Owners Association of New Jersey directors who were up for election will retain their positions when they are sworn in at the annual membership meeting on Friday, October 24, 2008 at Freehold Raceway.

Elections were uncontested as no one submitted any additional nominations by the September 9 deadline.

The quintet include four in the driver/trainer category – Tom Luchento, Kelvin Harrison, Paul Wojtowicz and Mark Ford – and one in the owner category, Eddie Razzetti. All five will be confirmed at the meeting and begin new three-year terms.

Luchento, who recently sold his landmark Millstone, New Jersey restaurant, Luchento's, after 17 years, will also be contesting the seat held by Jeff Gregory as a United States Trotting Association District 12 director.

Ballots will be going into the mail in mid-month for the USTA elections. SBOANJ members are urged to vote and return their ballots.

"I want to make sure that the concerns of New Jersey's racing community are best represented on the national level," said Luchento, who is also vice president of Harness Horsemen's International.

"With the sale of the restaurant, I now have time to take on more challenges and, at this crucial juncture in the future of our racing program, use my experience and energies to best serve our needs."

The SBOANJ annual meeting on October 24 will take place in Freehold's Renaissance Room and is open to all members. There will be a USTA District 12 meeting at 11:00 a.m. followed by the SBOANJ meeting at 2:00 p.m. Members are invited to partake of a buffet luncheon from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m.
