New Stabling Policy At Fraser Downs

Published: September 3, 2008 11:00 am EDT

Fraser Downs track management has announced new stabling policies in its backstretch, effective immediately.

As indicated in their notice to horsepersons in June this year, the track operator said: "as the standardbred industry continues to grow in British Columbia and horses from across North America are coming to race at Fraser Downs, the stabling policy needed to be retooled."

Effective yesterday, stalls on track are being assigned to racing or qualified horses only and if a horse does not have a race start in a 60-day period, the trainer will be asked to vacate that horse's assigned stall.

There will be no yearlings permitted; however, one young horse in training will be permitted on a four-to-one ratio per stable.

In addition, there will no longer be any personal ship-in stalls. The track will operate approximately 25 ship-in stalls which will be assigned daily and no overnight stays will be permitted (excluding horses which have traveled from Vancouver Island).
