Kentuckiana Farms is extremely excited to announce that World Champion Muscle Mass will stand the 2009 breeding season at Kentuckiana Farms of Ontario, located at Emerald Ridge Farm of. Kentuckiana Farms will serve as Syndicate Manager and along with Emerald Ridge Farm will manage his breeding career.
Muscle Mass (Muscles Yankee--Graceful Touch, by Pine Chip) retires to stud duty as the fastest two-year-old son of super-sire Muscles Yankee, having established his World Record mark of 1:53.4 in only his second career start. In doing so, he lowered Chocolatier’s two-year-old record by a full second – a World Record that currently still stands. Muscle Mass won five major stakes in an undefeated season at two, winning all seven of his starts, including back-to-back wins in Lexington and a 10-length, track and stakes record in the American-National.
Muscle Mass was a stunning $100,000 yearling and hails from one of harness racing's most prolific families. A Muscles Yankee son of Graceful Touch, 2, 1:56.1 ($161,983), a brilliant stakes winning two-year-old herself and a daughter of the sensational ill-fated Valley Victory racemare and producer Act of Grace, 3, 1:52.3 ($403,525). Before her tragic death, Act of Grace produced stakes winning Cobol, 3, 1:54.1 ($411,457) and Graceful Touch in only two foals.
The royal breeding of Muscle Mass continues into his third dam, Keystone Profile, 3, 1:55.1 ($158,064), a stakes winner and top producer -- Prolific Lady, 3, 1:56.2 ($373,925) and Cherished Victory, 3, 1:54.4 ($127,675); along with being the dam of several great producing daughters, such as Miss Marita, dam of Passionate Glide, 3, 1:52.2 ($2,063,097), Maritas Victory, 3, 1:54.0 ($666,731) and Mr Vic, 3, 1:54.2 ($318,942) – this being the immediate family of the great Green Speed, 3, 1:55.3 ($953,013) and stakes winner of 37 starts.
In addition to being one of the preeminent stakes-winning families in harness racing, the maternal family of Muscle Mass is regarded as one of, if not, the top commercial families in the industry, having produced in excess of 10 $100,000 yearlings and five $250,000 yearlings including: Muscle Mass ($100,000) and his two full brothers Muscle Massive ($425,000 – ’07: the Harrisburg sales topper) and Touchdown Town ($320,000 – ‘06), Cobol ($290,000), Graceful Touch ($285,000), Act of Grace ($125,000), Mr Vic ($110,000), Maritas Victory ($160,000) and Mr Cantab ($325,000).
“Muscle Mass is a spectacular individual that possessed extreme high speed through his long and highly efficient gait. It is unfortunate that his World Record performing two-year-old season could not have carried into his three-year-old year due to injury. I would have loved to have had the opportunity to compete against the great Deweycheatumnhowe at 100%. Muscle Mass was an extremely tough and determined competitor and I believe he will carry his will through to his offspring,” says trainer Erv Miller.
