Handicappers looking for an edge on Saturday for the Xtreme Horsepower card of harness racing should look no further than the Georgian Downs' Tip Sheet.
Here is Georgian Downs' tip sheet for Xtreme Day. First race post time for Saturday's special card is 7:25 p.m.
Saturday, August 9
Race 1 Selections 3-9-6-1 (Xtreme Battle Elim.)
3 JOSHS DEAL gets the nod in the first elimination of the Xtreme Battle. The pacer has done very well since moving to the stable of trainer Wonson. Top call in the opener.
9 BLUE WATER skipped a scheduled start on July 29 after finishing third in an outing just three days earlier. The pacer has the tools to hold his own in here. Exactor factor.
6 BUNNY TALK clearly has the quick turn of foot that his sire displayed on more than one occasion. Unfortunately, he lacks his dad's stamina. He still merits consideration.
Race 2 Selections 6-4-5-7 (Xtreme Battle Elim.)
6 RUBY FALCON went to the front and forgot to stop in last week's debut for the Allards. The Falcons Future miss should relish this distance. She's a major danger again.
4 MYSTIC FACTOR dropped and popped in her latest trip for trainer Winacott, who will try to double up with the daughter of Astreos. She gets major consideration here.
5 MS BBD should fit in with this group for trainer Bourassa, who gets to start from an ideal spot in this 5/8 mile affair. The daughter of Dexter Nukes has a license to improve.
Race 3 Selections 13-5-17-18 (Xtreme Marathon)
13 FINAUD was a long distance winner in last year's Xtreme festivities, and he has done some added distance racing in the interim. He can be an Xtreme repeat winner.
5 TRUDEL rallied to pick up the show dough in each of his first two starts since being claimed and place into the stable of trainer Waxman. The son of Mr Lavec is worth a look.
17 VISIONARY was the runner-up to Finaud in an Xtremely memorable long distance battle last season, and he merits consideration in the rubber match. Top three threat tonight.
Race 4 Selections 1-5-7-8 (Xtreme Sprint Classic Elim.)
1 PACIFIC MARINER is a pacer custom made for this three furlong tilt. The son of Astreos can pack a powerful punch off the gate. They could need tow ropes to keep up.
5 WESTERN WIGGLES has flashed high speed on more than one occasion, and he can put that speed to good use in this assignment. McNair will have the pedal to the floor.
7 FREDS GOOD FRIDAY has really struggled in recent weeks for trainer Charlton, but he can regroup in this spot. The veteran captured last year's one furlong sprint event.
Race 5 Selections 5-2-9-8 (Xtreme Sprint Classic Elim.)
5 RODEO DU RUISSEAU showed wicked speed in his qualifier at Flamboro Downs on August 1. He can use that effort as a solid prep for this speedy affair. Major danger.
2 LOMBO SKYRIDER A was a well-known sprinter when he was in his prime, and he might be able to call on some of that back class tonight. The veteran merits a look.
9 GOTHIC CRUSADER has flashed quick early speed in each of his last three assignments, and he'll need to be on his toes to share from an outside post tonight. Contender.
Race 6 Selections (Xtreme Battle Final)
The top four finishers and one fifth-place finisher from Races 1 and 2 will advance to this 5/8 mille dash. It's boys versus girls in this co-ed clash of the titans. I'll look for the following speedsters to advance to the rich final:
JOSHS DEAL is on a roll for trainer Wonson.
BLUE WATER has to overcome tough post in elim.
RUBY FALCON capable of putting the boys in their place.
Race 7 Selections 14-13-2-1 (Xtreme Challenge)
14 DOMINANT KEMP was an impressive winner in his debut for trainer Bohrer, who will shoot for a round trip to victory lane with the son of Yankee Paco. Slight edge here.
13 LIL RICHARD struggled in his first start off-the-claim for new trainer Desroches. The gelding might appreciate getting back to the big track. He can share against these.
2 INVINCIBLE SUN has failed to hit the board in his last three starts, but he can right the ship tonight. He was a sharp winner in off-the-pace fashion at Mohawk on June 2.
Race 8 Selections (Xtreme Sprint Classic Final)
The top four finishers and one fifth-place finisher from Races 4 and 5 will advance to this 1/8 mille dash. If you blink, you'll miss it. I'll look for the following speedsters to advance to the rich final:
PACIFIC MARINER this speedball should dominate.
WESTERN WIGGLES could be the fly in the ointment.
RODEO DU RUISSEAU a big threat if he behaves.
Race 9 Selections 2-12-3-4 (Xtreme Challenge)
2 COLTIN DUHARAS put up solid numbers in the month of June, but July was a complete bust for the son of Electric Stena. He can bounce back against these. Top call here.
12 SANTAS SPECIAL wound up being a fast-closing runner-up in his latest effort for trainer/driver Tackoor, who will shoot for a similar effort tonight. Exactor factor again.
3 JACKS TABLE has grown fond of extra distance racing at Hanover Raceway in his last two outings for trainer Niclasen. The gelding merits consideration once again.
Race 10 Selections 7-4-6-1 (Xtreme Rewind)
7 ABBEY ROAD C is a big name sprinter who will try his luck at this 1-1/4 mile contest for trainer/driver Jones. The son of Incredible Abe deserves a look based on his class.
4 STRIKING POCKETS was a dominant winner in the final of the Masters Series for older trotting mares on June 28, but she struggled in her last two trips. She can rebound.
6 V I P HALL has looked good in his last two outings for trainer McCall, who will try to keep the ball rolling with the son of Garland Lobell. He's a logical factor once again.
Race 11 Selections 13-7-3-6 (Xtreme Marathon)
13 GYRAIDER has put up solid on-the-board numbers in recent weeks for trainer Stutzman. The son of Keystone Raider should be counted on for a late surge. Top call.
7 OHOKA DARK N enters tonight's assignment fresh off a 1:53.1 score at Mohawk Racetrack. The veteran can use his off-the-pace skills to double up against this group.
3 NOCTURNAL has hit the board in four of his last five starts for trainer Baillargeon, who gives the gelding a shot at the Xtreme Marathon. With a trip, he can grab a share.
Race 12 Selections 9-18-6-1 (Xtreme Challenge)
9 GOLIATH DURUISSEAU has hit the board in all four of his starts since being claimed and placed in the stable of trainer Menary. The son of Mach Three gets the nod.
18 INTREPID BRIGADIER was a non-factor fifth in his debut for trainer Crone, who figures to battle some serious traffic in this contest. The gelding could surprise them.
6 AIR MCNAIR joins forces with trainer Fine after spending the last number of months hanging out at Pompano Park. He will likely be a speed factor, but can he go the distance?
