Trot Insider has obtained some details for the sixth annual Gregg McNair Charity Baseball Tournament, which is to take place Wednesday, August 20 at McNair's Guelph, Ont. farm.

The charity tournament has turned into one of the most highly anticipated informal summer events in the Ontario industry. McNair's farm is located at Highway 6 North and County Road 51 (you can see the farm directly from Highway 6).

There are entry fees for teams that will be playing, but besides that the all-day event is free for fans and other spectators. The first game is usually at around 9:30 a.m. Trot Insider will be posting the match-ups and times of the games as soon as they are made available.

Trot Insider has learned that the charities which are to benefit from the annual endeavor are the Groves Memorial Hospital in Fergus, ON and the OPP Special Olympics Fund. Organizers are also looking to send $1,000 to trainer/driver Ron Cullen, who was injured in a four-horse accident at Killarney on August 10.

The organizers are looking to raise around $6,000 from the tournament. Sponsors are on board, but organizers have told Trot Insider that more sponsors are welcome, as sponsorship for ball diamonds (in which there are five) are available. Organizers have said that sponsors should make contact before Wednesday, as signs are being assembled.

In the past, a popular prize-raffle table has been a main attraction, usually with over 40 prizes, ranging from golf packages, compact refrigerators, televisions, etc.). Donations to the raffle would be greatly appreciated, as well.

Trophies will be given out to the winners of each division.
