Eligibility 

1. To participate in the contest, entrants must be enrolled as a Junior Member with Standardbred Canada, as of the contest date on which they are entering and must be a permanent resident within Canada. 

2. Applicants must not live in the same household or share an address with members of their immediate household of the Ontario Horse Racing, AGCO, Standardbred Canada, are not eligible.

Contest Format

3. Contest entry is open to anyone who completes an online entry via standardbredcanada.ca from Aug. 15, 2025 - Sept. 1, 2025.

Entry is open until midnight on September 1. (Provided they meet the criteria of #1, #2 and #3 above)

4. Contest entry is limited to one entry per person.

  • Eight entries will be drawn on Sept. 2, 2025 from all entries received online.
  • The names on the eight entries drawn will be finalists.
  • The eight finalists will be contacted and asked to attend Grand River Raceway on Sept. 5, 2025. A signed form will confirm attendance and participation.
  • SC Officials will select one of the races on Sept. 5, 2025, as the contest race.
  • Each of the eight finalists will be drawn and matched to a horse in the contest race.
  • The finalist matched with the winning horse in the contest race will be declared the winner of the ‘Win A Share in A Racehorse’ contest and will be awarded the Grand Prize.
  • In the event of a dead heat, a draw will be conducted to determine the winner.
  • If a finalist does not show up at Grand River Raceway on September 5, 2025, they will forfeit their position in the contest.
  • Following the completion of the race and the determined winner, all further communication and coordination will be handled with LandMark 19. The contest winner must sign an agreement with LandMark 19 to officially start their involvement.

Grand Prize

5. The Grand Prize is one share in LandMark 19 Stable, valued at $2,000. On Dec. 15, 2026, the winner will have the opportunity to terminate their participation in LandMark 19 (at no cost). The winner is entitled to any share related purse monies earned by horses in LandMark 19 Stable, up until Dec. 14, 2026. If the winner chooses to continue their participation in LandMark 19, then he/she becomes fully responsible for any financial responsibilities as outlined in the LandMark 19 agreement.

6. The Grand Prize must be accepted as awarded, is not transferable and has no cash value.

7. The winner is required to complete an application form and meet all the necessary requirements in LandMark 19. The winner also agrees to the terms and conditions set out by LandMark 19. After the winner takes possession of the share, no guarantees of any kind exist. The selected winner will never take actual possession of any horses. The winner will be responsible for the cost of his/her personal licensing and memberships related to the horse ownership share.

8. The awarding of the Grand Prize is subject to conditions, including the eligibility of the winner to be licensed by the AGCO. Should the Grand Prize Winner be unable to fulfill any of these conditions, the entrant drawn as the First Runner Up will be awarded the Grand Prize. Should the First Runner Up be unable to fulfill any of these conditions, the entrant drawn as the Second Runner Up will be awarded the Grand Prize (subject to fulfilling the conditions).

General Rules

9. Email addresses obtained through the balloting process will be used to communicate with the entrants regarding the Contest for marketing purposes or to provide information to them as deemed appropriate. Personal information which is collected will not be sold, distributed or used for any other purpose except as described above.

10. All entries become the property of Standardbred Canada, Ontario Horse Racing and Landmark 19 will not be acknowledged as received and in no case shall be returned to the entrant.

11. Any ballot entry submitted or obtained through fraudulent means, or which is in any way tampered with, will be disqualified. Ballots not completed in full may be rejected.

12. Standardbred Canada and Landmark 19 are not responsible for damaged, garbled, illegible, destroyed, lost, stolen, unreadable, inaccurate, or incomplete entries.

13. Any injuries, losses, or damages of any kind caused by the prize or resulting in the acceptance, possession, or use (including, but not limited to, the attendance of the track) or misuse of any prize or from participating in the contest is not the responsibility Standardbred Canada, and Landmark 19.

14. Any entrant who at any time violates the official rules of the contest will be disqualified immediately and without notice. Standardbred Canada, and Landmark 19, can disqualify participants if they do anything to undermine the contest by cheating, hacking, deception, or any other unfair practices. All disputes, claims, and causes of action arising out of or connected with the contest, or any prizes awarded, shall be resolved individually, without resort to any form of class action.

15. Standardbred Canada is not responsible for printing, distribution or production errors and may terminate, modify or withdraw the Contest at its sole discretion, without liability and without notice, if it or any related material, are found to contain such errors.

16. All prizes must be accepted as awarded and may not be redeemed for cash.

17. Entrants agree to abide by the Official Contest Rules and Regulations and the decisions of Standardbred Canada and Landmark 19 and the draw judges, which are final.

18. No purchase necessary. A skill-testing question is required.

19. By participating in the contest, entrants consent to the use of their name, address (city and province), biographical information and their portrait, picture, voice and/or likeness used for news and/or advertising and promotional purposes on a variety of mediums including the Internet, without compensation, except where prohibited by law. All forms of media, now known or hereafter devised, including the Internet, may be used by Standardbred Canada, Ontario Horse Racing and Landmark 19 in any publicity or advertising carried out by Standardbred Canada, Ontario Horse Racing and Landmark 19 relating to the Contest.

Anything not covered in these rules will be ruled on by the management of Standardbred Canada and their decision will be final and binding.

Contestants (and their guardians), by entering the contest, agree to be bound by the above rules and regulations.
