The United States Harness Writers Association (USHWA) has selected Tim Bojarski to receive the 2008 USHWAn of the Year Award.
The award is given annually to a member of the organization who has given outstanding service to the Association - and thus to harness racing.
Bojarski got into harness racing with a groom’s license and shortly thereafter became a trainer and driver. He operated a stable at Batavia Downs and Buffalo Raceway from 1981 until 1993.
While racing in the mid-1980’s, he wrote driver profiles and pieces of interest for the Batavia Downs program, along with race analysis sheets that were sold at the track. He did that until 1997.
In 2001, he was given the opportunity to become a contributing writer to Hoof Beats magazine by then-editor Dean Hoffman. He has since written about 30 articles for them and a handful of others for various print outlets. He has also contributed material to the USTA website and has been a regular member of their internet blogs that report live online covering major stakes like the Hambletonian, Little Brown Jug and Breeders Crown.
Bojarski, along with Jason Settlemoir, wanted their local upstate New York USHWA chapters (Western NY and Vernon , respectively) to become more active and through their perseverance a merge took place and the Upstate NY chapter was born in 2008. Bojarski was elected president of the new chapter, which under his leadership, has proven to be one of the most active in USHWA.

Bojarski is also the webmaster for USHWA’s national website and is responsible for the redesign that would reflect USHWA as not just a national entity, but also as a union of active, vibrant chapters.
Tim Bojarski will receive his USHWAn of the Year Award at the Night of Stars awards banquet on Wednesday, February 4, 2009 at the Bellagio hotel in Las Vegas.
