It is with the heaviest of hearts that the family announces the passing of Nancy Dean Guitard.
Nancy passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Wednesday, March 24 at the age of 62. Nancy courageously battled cancer for over 11 years and did it with strength, poise and integrity. Nancy was a true inspiration for many others in the cancer community. The wife of veteran trainer Mike Guitard, Nancy was a 36-year employee at OJC/Woodbine Entertainment Group and most recently worked for the AGCO.
Nancy’s fondest memories were from her time spent at the track. Nancy loved her job - starting in messenger betting, then mutuels and the money room. Nancy loved the track and most importantly spent every morning at Barn 1 with Mike as a groom and running the stable. Nancy’s love for horses was deep. Her favourites were Pokeman Kid, Armbro Replica, Dell Ridge Image, Santo Domingo and Grumpy Jake. Nancy cared deeply for everyone and customer service was her passion, she loved helping people. Nancy met Mike at the track while he was driving her Dad’s horses. They recently celebrated 40 wonderful years together.
Nancy’s most cherished accomplishment was being a mother to her three boys Clinton (Ashley), Graham and Fraser (Miranda). Nancy is also survived by her parents Frank and Pat Montgomerie. A celebration of life will take place at a later date as Nancy was loved by so many.

I treasure my years of
I treasure my years of friendship with Nancy. Moving from the east coast, leaving behind friends and family was challenging, but Nancy's warmth and easy going hospitality helped make Ontario home. Countless hours in the Gardiner Expressway traffic, hanging out between races in the Messenger bettor room or endless chats over early morning tea, I am grateful for the joy filled memories. Mike, Clinton, Graham, Fraser, my sincere condolences. May your memories bring you comfort. Rhonda MacGrath

My condolences to the Guitard
My condolences to the Guitard family on the loss of their beloved wife and mother. They will miss her dearly. A while back I found a nice picture of Mike and wanted a suitable place to show it. When I did a Rewind on Quebec born drivers I felt like it was the perfect spot. I should have done my homework a little better. Nancy sent in the following very short comment - #5 Mike Guitard, born in New Brunswick, started at Greenwood.

Nancy was a true warrior who kicked cancer's ass for many years, but more importantly she was a good person who along with her husband Mike raised a wonderful family together. The Guitard shedrow in the backstretch at Mohawk was always a welcoming place filled with smiles and laughter, and much of that was thanks to Nancy.
R.I.P. my friend. Condolences to Mike, Clinton, Fraser & Graham and their families. All the best to you Mike - Nancy lives on with you through your boys.
