Kawartha Downs celebrated National Caretaker Appreciation Day on Saturday (Sept. 25).

It should come as no surprise that the horsemen and women who care for our equine athletes are 100 percent dedicated to their work and the animals in their care.

After a week of National Caretaker Appreciation Day (NCAD) events at racetracks across the country, events continue this weekend through Sunday, Sept. 26.

Woodbine Mohawk Park proudly participated in National Caretaker Appreciation Day on Thursday (Sept. 23).

“Remember, this is not a job, it's a lifestyle. It's not 9-5, five days a week. They are living, breathing animals and they need care. They're not machines and caretaking is about care.”

National Caretaker Appreciation Day (NCAD) events take place at racetracks across the country this week. Events kicked off on Monday and continue through Sunday, Sept. 26.
