Brad Forward on CRIBS

I envy Brad Forward. The chance to represent Canada in international competition seems larger than life. While I can’t fathom the pressure he’s under heading into the World Driving Championship in Norway next month, I know the maple syrup is pumping hard through his veins.

In Grand River Raceway’s latest episode of CRIBS, we test that patriotism to the max. I won’t be the cinematic spoiler, so please watch to find out exactly what I mean. All I can say is that Brad Forward is one heck of a good sport.

Off-camera, Forward shared a lively narration about a time much earlier in his career when he and his wife Sandra were living lean, and mistakenly thought they had won $100,000 in Lotto 649. Nowadays, as Canada’s ’08 top dash driver, he makes about twice that amount in a fiscal year.

Like any accomplished driver, Forward knows both sides very well of the up-and-down racing lifestyle. Fates change on a dime. Whether it’s a $100,000 lotto ticket or a $1 million stake race, a win can be in your palm and gone again in the blink of an eye.

I know Forward has the skill to win, and the class to represent us well regardless of how the World Driving Championship pans out for Canada. (But I really, really, really want him to win!)

Lykke til Brad! (That’s good luck in Norwegian … thank-you, Google Translator)
