There can't be too much of a good thing with respect to causes like the relief fund set up for those unfortunately affected by the devastating fire at Lebanon Raceway in Ohio. Here's something to think about with respect to financial aid.
Many cities and regions have successfully organized 'toys for tickets' campaigns, where the money from tickets issued for traffic violations goes to a toy drive to provide kids with a better Christmas.
Similarly, I'd like to see racing organizations across North America to institute a "Fines For Friends" program. Take all the fines for driving and training infractions from a set time span of a few weeks prior to the holidays and donate to a cause in need.
This year, perhaps the horsemen of Lebanon would receive the proceeds. Call it Fines For Fire Relief. Next year, there would be another beneficial charity or worthwhile cause.
Outside of racing, positive pay-it-forward press for horse racing. For the people in racing, giving in the truest spirit of the holidays.
