The New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets has announced that two Standardbreds recently tested positive for Eastern Equine Encephalitis.
In the first case, an 18-year-old mare displayed the onset of clinical signs of EEE on August 13 and was subsequently euthanized.
The other case involved a three-year-old filly, who displayed the onset of clinical signs of EEE on August 11. The filly is currently recovering.
