Meadowlands Racetrack issued a notice on Tuesday, Sept. 29 clarifying Meadowlands yearling eligibility.
The Meadowlands notice stated that anyone interested in competing in the big events at The Meadowlands during 2027 should be aware that only yearlings from stallions nominated on Feb. 15, 2026 are eligible to race at the mile oval.
“We plan to do the same thing next year by asking the stallion owners to contribute a full annual stud fee, which will make foals of 2026 yearlings of 2027 eligible to race in 2028,” said Jason Settlemoir, Meadowlands Chief Operating Officer and General Manager.
The Meadowlands stated that every dollar of every payment will go into the stakes event purse pool.
