Kasha V Streaking At Freehold

A win by Kasha V has become a staple of Friday racing at Freehold Raceway. He's won four races in a row, and has done so by sweeping the New Jersey Sire Stakes- Standardbred Development Fund series and tallying a win in the Garden State Trot.

Kasha V will now be seeking a fifth consecutive win, and he will be looking at Friday's (Oct. 2) New Jersey Futurity for three-year-olds to do so. He's got the inside post, and will only be facing four rivals for trainer Tom Corelli and driver Austin Siegelman. However, one of Kasha V's rivals will be tough.

The tough foe is the Richard 'Nifty' Norman-trained Barley, who is set to start from Post 4 for driver George Brennan. Barley was a runner-up four consecutive times in Kentucky Sire Stakes action at the Red Mile, including the final on September 20. He won the Futurity for two-year-olds at Freehold last year, along with the Garden State Trot at the Meadowlands Racetrack.

Never Late Kait, Sloanie, and Kixton Hanover round out the field. Friday's showdown has been slotted as Race 5 on Freehold's card and carries an approximate post time of 2:10 p.m.

The NJSS-SDF will roll on for two-year-old trotters on Friday, as well. There will be one division of the second leg for colts and geldings and it will feature a field of nine. First-leg winners Muscle Dynasty and Torrey Pines drew Post 7 and 9, respectively. That race has been carded as the ninth, and is scheduled to go off at 3:10 p.m. The second leg for fillies attracted 11 entries, and was split into two divisions. The first division will be contested as a non-betting race and will feature a field of five. The second division will feature a field of six, and will be the third race, with a post time of 1:10 p.m.

Post time for the first race on Friday is at 12:30 p.m.
