Murray Alan Hyatt, age 86, of Oil Springs, Ont. passed away on Monday, Sept. 25, 2023 at his home.
As a longtime Standardbred Canada member, Murray was always actively involved in the harness racing industry. While he both owned and trained horses, his greatest passion was in the shoeing of them no matter the size, whether large or small. Just going to the racetrack was enjoyable to him. Even if he was not racing, he could be found at the track on many occasions just to socialize with other horsemen. His love of the horse industry lives on through his family, as many of them are still very much involved in the horse business.
Beloved husband of the late Edna Hazel (2006). Loving father of Ann (Richard) Pearson, Alan (Celso), Susan Muzalowsky, Ian (Candice) and Shawn. Cherished grandfather of Brandi, Darcy (Tanya), Dustin (Mandi), Dain (Julie), Sarah (Eric), Andrew and Joshaua (Maxine). Great-grandfather of Allison, Erin, Jorja, Nolan, Cullen, Charlotte, Olivia, Alexa, Tristan, Avery and Megan. Survived by special daughter-in-law Linda, sisters-in-law Myrna and Elsie Hyatt, and many friends, cousins and nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Alexander and Margaret Hyatt, and his siblings Stan, Marilyn (Howard) Saunders, Earl, Bruce (Mary) and Doris (Jim) Davis.
Family and friends will be received at Steadman Brothers Funeral Chapels on Thursday, Sept. 28, 2023 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Friday, Sept. 29, 2023 at 11 a.m. from the funeral home. Interment to follow at Hillsdale Cemetery, Petrolia.
