The Atlantic Standardbred Breeders Association would like to thank the Prince Edward Island Harness Racing Industry Association on the recent commitment of $300,000 to the Atlantic Sire Stakes program for 2021.
The Atlantic Sires Stakes is steeped in history and has the distinction of being the first sires stakes program in Canada. The Atlantic Sires Stake program is open to two- and three-year-old trotters and pacers sired by a stallion registered with the program. There are six divisions in the racing series that end off with championship finals each October.
“The success of the Atlantic Sires Stakes program has been from the support of the provinces of Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia and in the past New Brunswick. We look forward to the continued support from all provinces and their respective industry associations,” said Atlantic Standardbred Breeders Association President Wayne MacRae.
“The PEIHRIA is pleased to be able to announce an increase to $300,000 from the PEI industry to help continue to grow the Atlantic Sires Stakes program," said Blaine MacPherson, chairman of the Prince Edward Island Harness Racing Industry Association. "With the upcoming Atlantic Classic Sale Friday, October 9, 2020, it is a great financial boost for the industry."
