After having recorded a top-three finish against eastern Canada’s top pacers last Saturday, Machinthesand has drawn the rail and will be dropping in class for his Thursday evening (Sept. 27) assignment at Red Shores’ Charlottetown Driving Park.

The 12-dash program will get underway at 6:30 p.m., and Machinthesand will line up for the card’s $2,350 featured pace, which has been slotted as Race 11.

Machinthesand will have Ken Murphy in his sulky for trainer Barry Folland and owner Noonan Holdings Ltd., of Summerside, P.E.I.

The nine-year-old son of Mach Three has put together a solid season, as he has recorded nine top-three finishes from 16 outings, including finishing third to Czar Seelster and Rose Run Quest in his latest start.

Czar Seelster and Rose Run Quest will be absent this week, but Machinthesand’s six rivals are no slouches.

Stars Above, who is riding a two-race win streak into the Thursday feature , will have Steven Shepherd at his lines from Post 4. Three Truths, who had his win streak snapped at three last week, will start from Post 5 with Kenny Arsenault in the seat. Cartoon Daddy, who has faced the top pacers on Canada’s east coast all season, will start from Post 7 for driver David Dowling. Additionally, Cartoon Daddy paced a 1:54.2 mile in his most recent start.

Other entries include Winter Blast (to be driven by Jason Hughes), Red Magician (Adam Merner), and Rockin Indy (Corey MacPherson).

The $1,950 Open Trot (Race 6) will feature Freddie’s return to the island scene after having faced the pacers at Truro Raceway in Nova Scotia in his latest outing (which resulted in a third-place finish). Marc Campbell trains and drives the trotter for owner Three Wisemen Stable of Kingston. Other top entries include the stablemates Majian Chester (Murphy) and Majian Tango (Jim Ripley).
