A special card of Labour Day racing will hit the racetrack Monday afternoon at the Summerside Raceway.

First race post time is 1 p.m. for the 13-dash card with Doing Some Damage favoured in the Labour Day Pace for a $2,000 purse. The afternoon feature favourite has the rail with Brian MacPhee in the bike for trainer Trevor Hicken and owner Kent Livingston of Cornwall.

A 1:55.3 winner in his latest outing, Doing Some Damage has some tough company including top Prince County pacer Motorino (Terry Gallant) from post 3, Invitational pacer Forever Paradise (Mike McGuigan) with post 6, and post 5 entry Machinthesand (Norris Rogers) who will be looking for redemption after being parked every step Thursday night in Charlottetown. Other entries include Spirit Of America (Jason Hughes) and Oh To Be Me (Gary Chappell).

The Backstretch Beat appears in the Summerside race program and it pegs Forever Paradise as the one to beat from the far outside.

“Throw that last one out and look at his top three finishes for this year,” reads the Beat. “If you look at the fire power he has had to go up against right down his card, no question it’s much easier today.”

The afternoon back-up pace goes in Race 9 for a $1,700 purse with Lucky Encounter favoured from post 3 with Chappell in the bike for trainer Dale Sobey and owner Jeff Ferrish of Summerside. Other top entries include American Captain (McGuigan), Simon Said (Rogers) and George (MacPhee).
