Trot Insider has learned that both the qualifying session and program of live pari-mutuel racing that had been scheduled for today (Sunday, Sept. 16) at The Track on 2 in Lacombe, Alta. have been cancelled.
Trot Insider will convey information regarding a make-up date if/when the information is made available.
The next card of live pari-mutuel racing at The Track on 2 is scheduled for Sunday, September 30.
The Alberta Standardbred Horse Association passed along a statement on the cancellation, which reads, “In consideration for the safety of our horsemen, patrons and staff, due to weather causing unsafe driving conditions on Alberta highways, The Track on 2 has had to cancel today’s races. We thank everyone for their understanding in this matter.”
Officials with ASHA have also told Trot Insider that the horsemen’s bookkeeper will be on site in her office until 1 p.m. for horsepeople to pick up purse cheques.
