HR Ottawa, LP announced on Tuesday (September 12) that it will assume responsibility for the day-to-day operations and assets of the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) Slots at Rideau Carleton Raceway.

In the first six months of operations, HR Ottawa, LP will immediately invest $33 million in the facility, including new signage, and upgraded food and beverage. Pending approvals, HR Ottawa, LP will also add hundreds of new slot machines and live table games.

Adding to the existing games, Rideau Carleton Raceway Casino will update 250 existing slots with the newest titles with themes like ‘Game of Thrones’ and ‘Britney Spears.’ Pending final approvals, the casino will introduce 21 table games, such as blackjack, roulette and baccarat. More than 100 dealers and support staff will be hired to staff the table games.

Also pending required approvals, Hard Rock International and Rideau Carleton Raceway Limited (RCR) plan to potentially invest more than $320 million during a multi-phase construction process to ultimately create an electrifying, integrated entertainment destination, incorporating thrilling nightlife, world-class gaming, decadent cuisine and the heart of the Hard Rock brand: music. In the interim, Rideau Carleton Raceway Casino looks forward to serving players in the greater Ottawa area prior to the facility transitioning into Hard Rock Casino Ottawa.

"We're honoured to have been chosen by OLG and look forward to a positive relationship for years to come," said Jim Allen, chairman of Hard Rock International. "Once complete, Hard Rock Casino Ottawa will provide the region with unmatched entertainment and music offerings, much like the brand has done in many other areas across the globe."

The multi-phase project is expected to create 1,900 construction-related jobs and 2,000 direct and indirect ongoing jobs. HR Ottawa, LP is excited that 98 per cent of the existing employees accepted an offer to work with the company following the transition.

HR Ottawa, LP will be a key proponent of responsible gaming, integrating leading educational tools and resources to help guests keep gambling safe and fun, and to provide assistance and referrals for those in need of support.
