A strong second session helped bolster the overall Canadian Yearling Sale average, providing an increase from the 2009 Canadian Open.

On Sunday, 152 yearlings sold for more than $2.7 million resulting in an average of $17,778 for the second session. Over both days, 289 yearlings sold for more than $4.67 million - that provided an overall sales average of $16,160, up 6.4 percent from the $15,191 average in 2009.
The second session sale topper - tied for overall honours - was Hip 289, Warrawee Nonsuch. From the first crop of Jeremes Jet, Warrawee Nonsuch is a half-brother to the fast filly Warrawee Kay. Quebec's Colin Johnson plunked down $140,000 for the Warrawee Farm-bred filly, consigned by Preferred Equine.
Windsong Invincebl (Kadabra - Diamond Image), a full sister to O'Brien Award winning trotter Windsong Espoir sold as Hip 237. Ben Wallace paid $115,000 for the filly bred and consigned by Windsong Acres.
Hip 207, Cool Creek Breeze (Angus Hall - Balanced Breeze) - the brother to top trotting mare Casual Breeze, was sold for $97,000 to Ben Baillargeon. Cool Creek Standardbreds bred and raised the colt who was consigned by Peninsula Farms.
Baillargeon also purchased Hip 153, King Of Dance, for $95,000 from the same connections. King Of Dance (Angus Hall - Dance To Market is a brother to last year's O'Brien Award winning freshman trotter Il Villaggio.

The Saturday sale topper was Hip 134, pacing filly Shes Machs Delight. Mark Steacy paid $140,000 for the stunning daughter of Mach Three from the Western Hanover mare Endless Delight, she the sister to the speedy Priceless Edition. Tara Hills Stud Farm bred Shes Mach Delight and consigned the filly with Preferred Equine.
