Sunday’s show will open with a special musical performance by the Regimental Pipes & Drums of the Calgary Highlands, setting the stage for an unforgettable afternoon. Proceeds from Sunday’s ticket sales will support Bear Valley Rescue, helping to make a difference in the lives of animals in need. Doors open at 1 p.m.

“We are absolutely thrilled to host the esteemed RCMP Musical Ride. This iconic event is a profound representation of Canadian history, tradition, pride, and culture, and we anticipate that this beautiful display of horsemanship and precision riding will be a memorable experience for everyone who attends,” said Jackie Morrison, General Manager at Century Downs.

The RCMP Musical Ride dates back to 1876, just three years after the formation of the North-West Mounted Police, now known as the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. What began as informal cavalry drills to help officers sharpen their riding skills and pass the time during remote postings soon evolved into choreographed performances set to music. These displays highlighted the precision, discipline, and exceptional horsemanship of the Mounties. The Musical Ride made its official public debut in Regina in 1901 and has since grown into a treasured Canadian tradition, celebrated both nationally and internationally.

The RCMP Musical Ride continues to play a vital role in preserving and promoting Canadian heritage, serving as a powerful symbol of national identity and tradition. Beyond its cultural significance, the  Musical Ride supports the RCMP’s recruitment and community outreach efforts, while also helping to raise funds for local charities and organizations across the country.
