Machinthesand Favoured In CDP Feature

A $2,300 Preferred pace will line up for Race 12 Thursday night at Red Shores' Charlottetown Driving Park, as Old Home Week racing kicks off.

First-race post time for the 12-dash card is 7:00 p.m.

The red-hot Machinthesand has the rail position for driver Brodie MacPhee, trainer Mark Bradley and owners Russell and Karen Noonan and Noonan Holdings of Middleton. The Mach Three four-year-old has won his last two starts, with his last performance a blistering 1:54.4 win over the CDP.

The competition will be tougher this time around, as IDK (to be driven by Vincent Poulton) has drawn Post 7, fresh off a third-place finish to top pacers Balanchine and Inspired Art. Other entries in the preferred are Creighton Hanover (Gary Chappell), Pan Larceny (Maxim Gaudreault), Come Back (Lenny Myers), Ovation Killean (Vaughn Doyle), Block Party (Marc Campbell) and Artist List (Garry MacDonald).

Also on the card, the Alpine $3,000 Claiming Series will kick off with Leg 1. The series features 21 horses in a trio of horse and gelding divisions (Races 3, 5, and 7). Race 3 has 14-year-old veteran pacer Casimirbadmoonrisn favoured from Post 2 for trainer-driver Mike Downey and owner Dr. Mitchell Downey of Saint John. Casimirbadmoonrisn is inching closer to $500,000 in career earnings. Race 4 features Ontario ship-in Lakers Vett, who has been installed as the morning-line favourite for trainer-driver Patrick Shepherd and owner Mikaela Lustic of Warren Grove. Race 7 will see Busters Brother favoured from the rail for driver Campbell and owner-trainer Kenneth Greene of Nova Scotia.

A pair of nine-horse fillies and mares divisions of the Alpine $3,000 Claiming Series will line up for Races 9 and 11. Race 9 has There Paid For is favoured from the trailing Post 9 for driver MacPhee and owner-trainer Joey Squires of Charlottetown. The mare took her lifetime mark of 1:57.2 last week in a claiming event. The Race 11 division will feature Milliondollarfeeln from the rail for driver Corey MacPherson, trainer Ron Gass and owner Susanne Inch of New Brunswick.

Old Home Week racing will continue Friday night at 7:00 p.m. and Saturday with a double-header at 1:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.
