Tioga Downs plays host to the $106,200 New York Sire Stakes (NYSS) for two-year-old trotting fillies on Sunday (August 8).
Unbeaten Gertrude (Andy Miller) is the 2-1 morning line favourite. Julie Miller trains the filly by Devious Man-Ophelia. She is two-for-two in her young career with NYSS wins at Batavia and Saratoga.
The Jeff Byron-trained Bomb Hugger (Anthony MacDonald) and the Brett Pelling trainee, Just Bee Awesome (David Miller) should be her main rivals. Bomb Hugger is a filly by Chapter Seven-Stylemaker. She is three-for-three with NYSS wins at Batavia and Saratoga. Just Bee Awesome is a filly by Chapter Seven-Please Beehave. She finished third at a leg of the Kindergarten Stakes at the Meadowlands in her only career start.
