This coming weekend, Hanover Raceway will host a pair of events aimed at giving racing fans an inside look at the sport of harness racing.

On Saturday night, the Ontario Harness Horse Association will be running its popular 'So You Think You Can Drive' promotion. During the evening of racing, fans will have an opportunity to win a chance to drive a real standardbred racehorse, accompanied by a professional driver in a double-seated jog cart. The event has been running for a number of years, and truly is a hands-on, unique experience for fans to get the feel for driving a racehorse.

On Sunday, Hanover will host its annual open house from 12:00 noon until 3:00 p.m. Track management is inviting all fans to come out to the Hanover backstretch for a behind-the-scenes view of the world of harness racing. Fans will have an opportunity to drive a racehorse, as well as learn the fundamentals of the sport, including details on the rules, drug testing, equipment, and training. The track's general manager, Gord Dougan, is encouraging all to come out. "This is a as close as you can get to the action,” he said. Guests will get to visit three information stations, including rides on a jog cart. There will also be a free hot dog barbeque for guests.

The track's racing season continues Saturday night at Hanover Raceway. First-race post time is 7:30 p.m.
