Tessa MacKinnon of Souris, Prince Edward Island, is the I Love Canadian Harness Racing Fan Club’s Zoom Photo Challenge winner for July.
Mackinnon, who is only 16 years old, has now won two Zoom Photo contests. Last year she was the winner for August and this year she has returned as July’s winner!
The Fan Club chose ‘Friends at the Races’ as July’s theme to celebrate the annual Bring A Friend national promotion that took place at racetracks across the country from July 15-17. Fan Club members were asked for photos of anything that captured their Bring A Friend experience.
Tessa managed to snap this image of Julia Clow sporting a pair of bell boots at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at Charlottetown Driving Park.
“I had just bought bell boots for my trotter when Julia came running up to me with a crazy hairdo so with some creative thinking I captured this picture,” Tessa explained. “Julia is only young but loves the horses and helps out as much as she can with her parents, Les and Deanna Clow. There is never a dull day at the track with Julia around!”
Harness racing has been in Tessa’s blood her whole life. She is known by many as a passionate groom and owner as well as a dedicated racing fan. She also received an Appreciation Award from PEISHOA in 2012 for contributing her time and efforts in support of the association and the harness racing industry.
Tessa will receive a $50 prize package from the Fan Club for her winning photo!
