This Saturday, Sept. 4, it is “Wiener Take All” in Meadowlands Racetrack’s third annual Wiener Dog Derby.
Forty-eight pre-registered dachshunds will be competing for the $500 Grand Prize in between the live horse races. Live racing kicks off at 6:20 p.m.
There are seven qualifying heats with the top canine from each heat advancing to the final. The first qualifying heat is at 6:45 p.m. The Wiener Dog Derby Final will take place on the racetrack after Race 8 at approximately 9:30 p.m.
The derby takes place in the racetrack’s Backyard and admission and parking are free.
Fans, family and friends are encouraged to come out and cheer on their favourite hound. Just remember only participating dogs are allowed at the track, no spectator dogs permitted.
