It’s the final call for entries for the new Lexington Selected Mixed Sale, as the main catalogue is set to close on Tuesday, September 4.
Those wanting to enter horses should contact sale co-managers David Reid at 914-773-7777 or Randy Manges at 859-255-8431.
The new sale comes at the conclusion of the Lexington Selected Yearling Sale on Sunday evening, October 7, following the Kentucky Futurity race card at the Red Mile.
As was announced earlier this week, proceeds from the mixed sale will help fund a new stakes race at Red Mile, a $1 million two-year-old trot that will be first contested in 2019.
And speaking of the Red Mile, Reid noted that a number of horses already consigned to the mixed sale are racing there now in sire stakes, or plan to race there during the upcoming Grand Circuit meet, which will start on September 27.
“Our plan going in was to give consignors an opportunity to race their sale horses at Red Mile — a terrific mile track — and many are taking advantage of that. I think it’s a great way to display one’s horses before heading across town to the sale,” Reid said.
“The sale will have quality throughout… we’ve also been very pleased with the response as far as breeding stock goes. There are shares selling in top sires like Muscle Hill and Captaintreacherous, plus mares in foal to Muscle Hill, Chapter Seven, Father Patrick, Walner, and Huntsville.”
Those planning to enter are encouraged to make the main catalogue if possible, to take advantage of catalogue downloads, advertising and promotion of horses in the weeks leading up to auction.
