Racing Under Saddle will returns to Grand River Raceway this Friday night (Aug. 31) with a special back to school promotion where three backpacks will be filled with back to school supplies plus a $25 iTunes gift card for a total value of $100.
This edition will mark the third year that the promotion, co-sponsored by The Stable, has given away backpacks to lucky participants.
Ballots will be available in the program and will be drawn after the sixth race. Three lucky students will take the backpacks home and will be ready for the school year.
Also, Racing Under Saddle is welcoming rider Sasha Moczulski to Friday’s race at Grand River. She is journeying here from Delaware, United States to ride in her first RUS race in Ontario where she will be aboard All Out Henry.
Moczulski, who is in her third year of RUS, has been riding horses since she was eight years old. She cites her most memorable moment as her first win at Ocean Downs because it was an achievement resulting from all of the hard work she had put in. She had been riding every kind of horse imaginable to get to that point, and getting through all of the tough times made the win feel especially good.
The final Grand River race of the season for RUS has been scheduled as Race 4 and will feature a seven-horse field. Morning-line favourite Jangone (8-5) has drawn Post 3 for rider Karoline Nielsen and trainer Julie Walker. All Out Henry (2-1) will host Moczulski in the irons for the Pam Forgie Stable.
Katch Kanna (3-1) will have Sarah Town up for the Dupont Stable in Post 7. Azucar (7-2), who is a two-time winner, will have Marielle Enberg riding for the Lachance Stable.
Burlington (9-2), with trainer/rider Britt Kennedy, has drawn Post 1. Gifted Glider (7-1), with first-year rider Sarah Cuthbertson for the Pat Hunt Stable, has drawn Post 6. Pukka (9-1), with Maggie Jones riding for the Keith Jones Stable, has drawn Post 2.
First-race post time will be at 6:30 p.m., and post time for the RUS race will be at approximately 7:30 p.m.
