Tioga Downs welcomes New York Sire Stakes (NYSS) for two-year-old trotting colts and geldings on Sunday (August 30).
Eight freshmen trotters are set to race for $104,400 with Ahundreddollarbill (Jason Bartlett) looming as the horse to beat. Trained by Dan Daley, Ahundreddollarbill is a colt by Chapter Seven-Swinging Royalty and he has pulled off impressive back-to-back NYSS wins at Saratoga and Vernon Downs. He is two for four in his young career.
Special Prosecutor (Scott Zeron) and Dees Red Delicious (Corey Callahan) should be his chief rivals. The David Dewhurst-trained Special Prosecutor (Chapter Seven-Valley Makayla) has two wins in five lifetime starts including a NYSS win at Yonkers. Dees Red Delicious (Credit Winner-Apple Plush) already has a NYSS win at Tioga on in late July. The gelding, trained by Bruce Saunders, is also two-for-five in his career.
The 13-race card of harness racing starts at 1:00 p.m.
