Details For Alberta Yearling Sale

The Alberta Standardbred Horse Association is welcoming all to join it this Saturday, August 28, at the annual yearling sale at the Megadome in Olds, Alberta

.

There will be a BBQ starting at 1:00 p.m. prior to the live sale, which will get underway at 4:00 p.m. There will be no racing at Alberta Downs on Saturday, August 28 due to the yearling sale.

Also, a trip for two to the 2011 Gold Cup & Saucer in Charlottetown, PEI will be raffled off during the sale. Tickets are $20 each, and the trip will include flight, accommodations, seats, and $500 dollars in spending cash.

Ten lucky 'new purchasers' at this year's sale will be randomly drawn for a chance to win $100-$1,000 off the purchase price of their new yearling. For more details, or to get a copy of a sale book, contact Brandy at the ASHA office, or by email at [email protected].

Alberta Downs Meet Winding Down

The final weekend of live racing at Alberta Downs will start Friday, August 27 at 5:00 p.m. The Sunday card, which will have a first-race post time of 1:35 p.m., will be 'customer appreciation day.' Draws will be made for betting vouchers. Customers will be able to enjoy burgers, hot dogs and pop for $1. Plus, it will be the last day of live stakes action for two-year-old colts and fillies.

The Alberta Downs meet will close off with live cards on Monday, August 30 and Tuesday, August 31, both of which will feature 5:00 p.m. first-race post times.
