The Harness Racing Museum’s collection and education departments are again combining efforts for an afternoon of entertainment, dining and creativity during its first session of the fall ‘Learn & Create Series 2016’.

Join the museum for lunch and enjoy an exploration of Standardbred history and art through a slide show and lecture. The educational workshop is designed to feed the body as well as the intellectual and artistic soul. Admission includes lunch, lecture and craft supplies.

On September 8 from 12:00 - 2:30 p.m. the event will begin with a catered lunch, and Harness Racing Museum’s collection curator, Rebecca Howard, will discuss selected works of art in the museum, the current gallery exhibit – ‘The Fine Art of Harness Racing.’

In a blending of equine and art history, the slide presentation will highlight the horses, people and artists captured by the exhibit. Following Howard’s presentation, the museum’s education coordinator and sculptress for the Hall of Fame, Kristin Roberts, will guide participants to sculpt a small horse head, beginning with an armature which will be layered and sculpted with air dry terracotta clay (no prior experience necessary).
If you have ever felt that artistic feeling stirring within, this is the perfect opportunity to explore your creative soul. Admission for the event is $20 – Museum Members $18
