A fortunate 14-year-old trotter is part of the field for Leamington Raceway’s celebration of the Ontario Standardbred Adoption Society’s 25th anniversary on Sunday afternoon (August 22).
Rainbow Gold is one of those rare horses to have had the same trainer throughout his long career. Ashley Duford conditioned him when he made his first start in May of 2011 and on Sunday she’ll send him out for start number 252, all under her care.
Ashley’s grandmother, Mabel Duford, bred the son of Thunder Road and her father, Dennis, owns the horse and was his regular driver for many years. Rob Doyle is scheduled to be in the sulky on Sunday where they’ll leave from post six.
During his long career which has spanned over 11 years, Rainbow Gold has competed at a total of 15 tracks throughout North America. His life summary to date is 58 wins, 35 seconds and 36 thirds for $306,171 in earnings.
From the rail the entire field is: Magics Lucky Charm, West River Cindy, Fortune Tellers K, LA Magic, Waikiki Hanover, Rainbow Gold and Mr Arch.
