H3R Spotlight To Shine On Trotters Tues.

Published: August 20, 2018 04:15 pm EDT

The trotters will own the spotlight at the Hippodrome 3R on Tuesday evening (Aug. 21), as five divisions of the Quebec Series for two and three-year-old trotters are scheduled to face the starter.

The action will begin in Race 3 with the Breeders Cup for three-year-old trotting fillies.

Montanaalaska will be seeking her third consecutive victory and will start from Post 2 for driver Guy Gagnon. The daughter of Angus Hall wired the field in 2:00.2 last week at Rideau Carleton Raceway, and in the second round of the Breeders Cup Series won at H3R in 2:02.4. She is trained by Alain Martin and owned by Michel Grenier of Gatineau.

The colts in the second round of the Breeders Cup Series will get underway in Race 6 where Johnnys Revenge (Post 3) will take on Sir Chopin (Post 1) and Sombre (Post 5).

The second division for colts has been carded as Race 8. SG Goliath King will be looking to extend his two-race winning streak for Sylvain Grenier of Saint-Rene. Grenier not only bred and owns the gelded son of Lucky Fool, but is also the trainer and driver. SG Goliath King has now won three of his last four starts and has finished first or second in his last six starts, the fastest of which was a 2:01.2 performance at H3R. The duo will start from Post 6 and will face off against return winner Yankee Photo (Post 5) and Nobodynojustice (Post 3), all of whom have won prior legs of the series.

The two-year-old trotters will be featured first in the Future Stars Series (Race 4) for the fillies.

A newcomer to H3R will be Kenogami Darling, who will ship in from the Greater Toronto Area off of a very impressive victory at Woodbine Mohawk Park. The daughter of Justice Hall came from off the tempo in a $19,500 Ontario Sires Stakes Grassroots contest and won going away by six lengths in 1:59.2. She is trained by Dany Fontaine for breeder Jean Francois of Anjou, who co-owns the filly with Claude Reid of Jonquiere. She will start from Post 6.

Kenogami Darling will be taking on return series winners The Only Somolie (Post 7) and My Lady Hall (Post 5), who is part of an entry with Claudi P V (Post 2).

The Future Stars Series dash for the colts has been carded as Race 9, which will feature a field of nine. The early favourite is trainer/driver Yves Filion’s Money Hill, who will start from Post 7. The Muscle Hill colt won a qualifier at Woodbine Mohawk Park in 2:00.3, and in his first start (in the Define The World series) he finished fourth and was race-timed in 1:58.4. He was bred and is owned by R L Belanger of Laval.

Money Hill will face off against opening-round winner El Bleu (Post 9) and the Dany Fontaine entry of Only For Justice (Post 1) and Clevisse (Post 8). The latter pair was both bred and are owned by Gaston Bono, Inc. of Montreal.

First-race post time for H3R’s Tuesday program will be at 6:30 p.m.
