Officials with Pompano Park have issued a reminder to horsepeople that the 2015-16 live racing season at the track is quickly approaching. The announcement includes details regarding stall information, and also states that the Isle Of Capri Series has been resurrected.
Pompano’s opening night is scheduled for Sunday, October 4.
A release from the track states that stall applications have generated a lot of interest, and that many horsepeople have been looking to take advantage of the racing opportunities at the track this winter.
Additionally, Pompano has announced that stall applications are due by Friday, August 28. The track’s stable area will open on September 8, with free stall rent being offered throughout the month of September. Stall applications can be found by clicking here.
One of the highlights of the new season will be several late-closing events to take place over the winter, including a return of the ‘Isle of Capri’ Open series. The Isle of Capri series was last contested in 2008, where Mr Feelgood was victorious with a 1:49.4 win in the final.
There will be three legs each in the month of February for Open Pacers, Open Pacing Mares, and Open Trotters. All three Isle of Capri divisions have finals scheduled for March 6, with the Open Pacers racing for $100,000 (est.) and the Open Pacing Mares and Open Trotters each racing for $75,000 (est.). The series is open to all horses, with only winners of over $200,000 in 2015 being excluded.
In total, there will be 19 different late-closing events offered at Pompano over the winter for all different levels. A full late-closing schedule can be found later this week on Pompano’s website (theislepompanopark.com).
