On July 24, 2014 close to 120 industry stakeholders, including breeders, drivers, OLG representatives and racetrack officials, gathered at Country Heritage Park in Milton, ON to participate in an open Industry Information Meeting hosted by Ontario Horse Racing (OHR).
Elmer Buchanan, Chair of the Ontario Racing Commission opened the meeting, followed by John Snobelen, Interim Director of OHR, who presented “The Business of Racing”. A variety of topics were outlined, including an explanation of the industry’s main revenue sources, the five-year, $500 million Horse Racing Partnership Program and the structure of racing at Ontario’s centralized and regional racetracks.
Following the presentation, attendees had an opportunity to share comments, voice concerns and ask questions. Issues raised included OLG integration, marketing opportunities and concerns over future horse supply.

OHR was encouraged by the strong turnout and extends a thank you to all of the attendees.
